Charles Ellner was an experienced remmuer of a large Champagne house when, in 1905, he bought his first vineyards on the outskirts of Champagne. From then on, he decided to vinify his own Champagne, with the help of his only son, Pierre. Maison Ellner remains independent and, in its third generation, is today managed by Charles' grandson, Jean-Pierre Ellner, who implemented, in 2001, the sustainable culture of his vineyards, with limited use of chemicals. Founded: 1905 Classification: Negotiant Manipulant Production: around 400,000 bottles per year Culture: sustainable, with limited use of chemicals. Cellar: the vinification is carried out with the first fermentation in stainless steel tanks and each parcel is vinified separately. Some Chardonnay, however, is aged for a few months in old oak barrels. They choose not to carry out malolactic fermentation to maintain the freshness of the wines. Vineyards: 50ha distributed from the Montagne de Reims to the Côte des Bar, passing through the Vallée de la Marne, Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne. Highlight for the “Grand Cru” vineyards in Chouilly and “Premier Cru” in Rilly la Montagne, Tauxières, Champillon, Sermiers and Dizy. Recommended Cuvée: Grand Reserve Brut - 60% Chardonnay 40% Pinot Noir - minimum 7 years in Sur Lie, with a mineral and citrus touch and a low dosage of 4g/l A beautiful champagne to get to know the Ellner style - you can find it on the EnoEventos website.
